| Kekec continues the tradition of Alice in Wonderland, Pippi, Peter Pan, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this time with the emphasis on classical Slovenian children's literature, and with another important emphasis: to link the skill and magic of movement with those of the word in a performance for children. The choice of director and choreographer Branko Potočan was therefore not difficult at all. With his group Fourklor he has created a number of acclaimed performances that have brought fresh humour, direct physicality, great theatricality and a unique dramaturgical style. Potočan received the Golden Bird Award and a Special Jury Award at the MESS International Festival for his work. Potočan and the Mladinsko ensemble entered into a dialogue with Vandot to create a performance that was to be the first of its kind in Slovenia: a dance-theatre piece for children, who in the educational process otherwise have little chance to encounter elements of contemporary dance and physical theatre. |
