Svetlana Makarovič – Jure Novak

Dog and Pony Show

Conceived and directed by Jure Novak

Première: 8 February 2017

Co-producers: Mladinsko Theatre and Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture

Many generations of parents and children have Svetlana Makarovič’s poems singing in their ears and inciting their creativity; Makarovič adopts difference, otherness and foreignness as her central themes. Themes which in our time are unfortunately once again becoming increasingly important.
Therefore we will revive them and bring them together in the Dog and Pony Show, a concert performance of the selection of Svetlana’s poems for children. Uroš Buh will provide contemporary arrangements for them, and the excellent vocalists from the Mladinsko Theatre will lend their voices. They will weave the poems with a tale that will introduce the children to the burning topics of the world surrounding us and encourage thoughts about the questions of connection and accepting difference.
